Minor requirements

The ICP department offers a minor degree in International and Comparative Politics for students from other departments and interested in acquiring background knowledge on political science and international relations. In order to declare a minor in ICP,听 students must get prior approval from the chair of her/his department and the chair of the ICP department.

To be eligible for minor, students must have a GPA score of 2.7 or higher.

To earn the minor degree in International and Comparative Politics, students must complete at least 42 credits from the ICP department. Only courses with a grade of 鈥淒-鈥 or higher will be counted towards the fulfillment of minor requirements.

The list of courses required for the minor (42 credits):

Mandatory for all students: (12 credits)
ICP 100: Introduction to Political Science, 6 credits
ICP 240: Central Asian Politics, 6 credits

At least two of the following: (12 credits)
ICP 110: Introduction to International Relations, 6 credits
ICP 130: Introduction to Comparative Politics, 6 credits
ICP 270: Introduction to Political Economy, 6 credits
ICP 280: Introduction to Political Theory, 6 credits

Minimum of two ICP courses听at 300 or 400 level听(12 credits)

Minimum one additional ICP course or cross-listed course, at any level (6 credits)

As a part of the minor program, students must pass a state exam at the end of the senior year. The state exam consists of two essay questions on topics pertaining to the fields of Central Asian Politics and International Relations.听
